Spin Ball Fairground Ride – Three Generations of The Fun Firm History
A proper piece of The Fun Firm history from the family archives.
This photograph was taken back in 2001, showing our original ERF B-Series lorry transporting the Spin Ball fairground ride around the country.
But the story of Spin Ball goes back even further than this photo.
The ride has now been part of our family for three generations, beginning with our grandad, then passing through to our late dad, and today being looked after and operated by the next generation of The Fun Firm.

For us, Spin Ball has never been just another fairground ride.
It’s part of the family.
Fairground History on Both Sides of the Family
For us, the fairground industry has never just been a business — it runs through both sides of the family.
The ERF lorry came from our grandad on our mum’s side, while the Spin Ball came through our grandad on our dad’s side.
So when we look at this photograph, we’re not just looking at an old lorry and an old ride. We’re looking at two different sides of our family history brought together in one picture.
That’s why neither of them will ever be sold.
They’re more than equipment to us — they’re part of who we are.
The rides, the transport, the long days, the work ethic and the way we treat people have all been passed down through generations.
It’s in our DNA.
Our late dad, along with our grandad before him, helped shape the way we work today. They instilled values that have stayed with us throughout the business — hard work, good morals, respect for people, looking after your equipment and doing the job properly.”
The fleet has grown considerably since this photograph was taken.
The rides have evolved.
The transport has changed.
Technology has moved forward.
Lighting and presentation have completely transformed.
But the principles behind the business haven’t.
And before anybody asks — neither the ERF nor Spin Ball will ever be sold.
They’re family heirlooms now!
Spin Ball – Three Generations and Still Going Strong
Spin Ball has been maintained, refurbished and continually improved over the years while keeping the history and character that make the ride so special to us.
Today it still forms part of The Fun Firm’s funfair and thrill ride fleet, operating alongside modern attractions including adult dodgems, Ferris wheels, children’s rides, inflatables and our newest extreme attraction, EnteR 6.0.
There’s something quite special about standing beside a ride today knowing that our grandad operated it, our dad looked after it and now the third generation of the family is continuing the story.
That history can’t be bought.

Based in Cambridgeshire, we regularly provide funfair ride and event attraction hire throughout Cambridgeshire, London, Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Essex, as well as events across the UK.
Whether a client needs one attraction or a complete event package, our team can handle the delivery, setup, operation and dismantling.
Looking Back While Moving Forward
We’re proud of where The Fun Firm has come from, but we’re just as excited about where it’s going.
From a ride that has been in the family for three generations to brand-new attractions such as EnteR 6.0, we continue to invest in new equipment while looking after the rides and history that got us here.
A lot has changed over the generations.
The work ethic hasn’t.
